The Google Code-in is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to the many kinds of contributions that make open source software development possible. The Google Code-in 2013 contest runs from November 18, 2013 to January 6, 2014.
According to Mr. Law:
2 years ago, one of our [students] made it all the way to the top 10 finalists board and was invited out to Google’s campus.
Even though it might look difficult, [students have been] able to finish tasks every year. … It takes a lot of work, but building an open source portfolio is the difference between finding an awesome job and being someone’s code monkey.
