My name is Karolina Rak and I am currently a senior at Lane Tech High School.
Lane Tech has partnered with NCWIT (National Center for Women in Technology) and will be hosting a computer science camp of a series of 7 Saturday workshops to teach computer science and robotics to middle school girls. If attending, girls will be expected to attend all 7 days of the program. Registration is first come first serve. when we reach capacity, we will close registration. There are 80 spots available. These workshops provide a cheaper alternative to most existing computing camps and can be great introductory programs for students that want to try and explore new ideas. The girls will be working with and taught by my female school peers, all with some experience in this field. Our mission is to introduce computing to girls in the event to potentially reduce the gender gap in technology related fields, as well as give them experience in problem-solving, working with groups, and giving them a new creative outlet to express themselves.
The camp is held at Lane Tech and is $75.
The camp runs from 9am – 2pm and dates that it will be held are:
