12th Annual High School Project Showcase

The last day to submit applications is April 30th, 2019

Northwestern University’s Office of Community Education Partnerships(OCEP), in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Motorola Solutions Foundation, will be hosing the 12th annual High School Project Showcase on May 29, 2019.

High school students from Chicago-area schools will be invited to submit their research, engineering and/or design projects. Those selected will display their projects as part of the Northwestern University’s Undergraduate Research and Arts Exposition.
The online application is open! All high school students from Chicago-area schools are encouraged to apply today.

Projects don’t have to be complete before submitting an application to attend.

Northside Mini Maker Faire!

Apply for the 8th annual  Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire!

The Call for Makers (that includes students!) is extended to April 15th

Here are the ways you can participate:
1)  SHOW your stuff!  If you or some you know have a cool project to share, please SUBMIT A PROPOSAL.
Proposals are due by April 15th.
2)  VOLUNTEER for CNS Maker Faire HERE.  We need help signing in guests at the door, handing out goodies to those who donate, helping makers setup, and directing traffic. All volunteers get free lunch and free hugs!
3)  ATTEND the fifth annual Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire, bring your friends and family!
(Donations are welcome through Eventbrite and at the door if you wish to help support those who are unable to pay, and keep this a free event.)

2019 BP Student Ideas Competition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial

The 2019 BP Student Ideas Competition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial invites young people to respond to the following question:

How would you transform a vacant or underused space in your community?

The competition is sponsored by BP America and organized by the Chicago Architecture Biennial, in partnership with the Chicago Public Library. The competition welcomes submissions that explore ideas about architecture and the built environment from a wide range of disciplines including design but also the humanities, visual and performing arts, and STEM fields. Strong entries will be community specific, imaginative, and exhibit a creative use of materials.
