This year, the Office of Computer Science (Chicago Public Schools) is offering a Data Science BootCamp July 15th- July 19th for 25 students interested in learning more about how the world works by looking at data.  CPS is offering this camp in partnership with DePaul University and University of Massachusetts – Boston. Students who attend and actively participate in the week long Data Science BootCamp will be paid $150.00 at the conclusion of the event.

To qualify, you must be completing your Sophomore (10th) or Junior (11th) year. Additionally, preference will be given to students who have finished Algebra 2 and have demonstrated previous experience using the Scratch programming language (or equivalent).

You should expect to engage in a variety of hands-on activities as you work at a computer to answer questions using data.  You will learn everything you need during the camp; no previous data science experience is required.  You will be best prepared for this camp by having a creative mind and determined attitude.

If interested, please complete the Data Science BootCamp – Student Application.  Please begin by providing an email address you frequently check. You will be expected to provide your Student Information, Parent/Guardian Information, and answer six questions related to the camp. The deadline for submission is Monday, June 17th at Noon (12:00pm).  The first round of students accepted to the program will be notified by Wednesday, June 19th.  If accepted, students will need to confirm participation no later than Noon (12:00pm) on Monday, June 24th. Failure to confirm your participation by this time will result in your seat being forfeited. A second acceptance round and confirmation process will begin the week of June 24th- June 28th.
