“The tools of computing are what we use to solve problems in every field; it’s important for every student to understand those tools, whether they want a career in Computer Science or want to be problem-solvers in another field. In my 6 years of teaching, I’ve been working to empower young people with knowledge of the tools of computing and an understanding of the creative, problem-solving nature of CS, whether for fun, self-expression or career opportunities.”
Mrs. Hinz-Roscoe teaches Exploring Computer Science, Computer Programming 1 and Android Application Development 1. In her six year of teaching experience, her favorite courses include android application development, web development and video game design. A die hard Buckeye fan, Mrs. Hinz-Roscoe got her undergraduate and first Master’s degree from The Ohio State University. Her love for hands-on-learning led her to a second master’s degree from Miami University, where she was inspired to adopt an inquiry and investigation approach to learning Computer Science in her classroom. Outside of the classroom, she runs a non-profit conservation organization (Urban-Eco), travels the world looking for adventure, loves to dance and lives to see the Buckeyes play football. O-H!

“12 years ago I walked through door M of Lane Tech and I’ve never looked back. I’ve watched Lane’s Computer Science program evolve from only offering Information Technology classes to the amazing selection of rigorous CS courses we have now. I am proud to be the department chair of a department full of passionate educators who believe in what they do and go out of their way every day to make their students’ lives just a little bit better.
And yah, I love Computer Science!”
NBCT Teacher, Department Beard, FIRST Robotics Assistant Coach, Part-time Superhero
“I left industry 13 years ago on a quest to help change Computer Science education. I’ve been teaching Computer Science in CPS ever since. Until this year, I was teaching CS at Northside College Prep. Although I miss my old school, I left for an amazing opportunity to join Lane Tech and help build a world-class CS department. We did it. I’ve been incredibly lucky to be part of such an amazing department and school, and I look forward to seeing our dreams for CS education realized at Lane, in CPS, in Chicago and beyond.”
Teacher, and so much more
Miss Wozniak came to Lane Tech this year (2014) from Von Steuben. After nine years, it was a hard decision to leave but she did it because she knows that Lane Tech is building a world class CS department and she is excited to be a part of it. Miss Wozniak has a passion for getting more female students into Computer Science classes as well as under-represented minority students. She knows that learning is a process that never ends and she is always willing to learn new technologies herself. She recently finished her second Master’s degree at Robert Morris University in Management Information Systems. In her free time she can be found making her own line of jewelry products, running, biking or traveling.
