Service hours to work Dyson Foundation table at Northside Mini Maker Faire

Volunteers needed. Service hours available.

Students will be helping participants of the Northside Mini Maker Faire (click link for date / time) construct a marble run out of cardboard boxes and struts. Participants will be challenged to create a marble track that allows the marble to run continuously for 60 seconds. Lane Tech students will be assisting participants with their marble runs, deconstructing completed runs, and helping draw people to the JDF table. A more detailed description of the activity is attached.

If interested, contact Emily Shuki at emily.shuki@dyson.com

Collaborative Maker Exhibition Workshop, Saturday, May 21st, 10am -12pm

If you want to exhibit at the Chicago Southside Mini Maker Faire, and would like your exhibit to somehow connect to or be part of a collaborative experience, come join other makers as we workshop ways to:

  • Co-exhibit
  • Collaboratively design an exhibit
  • Create exhibits that naturally connect to others
  • Highlight connections between your exhibit and another

We will examine themes (art, motion, larger than life, your idea?) to help get your creative juices flowing, then break into groups to develop the ideas that resonate with you. By the time you leave, you should have identified potential partner(s) and have enough of a plan to update your existing application to be a maker!

Saturday, May 21st from 10:00 – Noon

Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago

(Includes admission for you and 2 guests, plus parking for one vehicle)

Why a meetup?

We value our makers’ feedback and at our 2015 debrief, you told us you wanted opportunities to engage with each other BEFORE the event, as well as opportunities to collaboratively plan your exhibits.

How to register:

Before using this Eventbrite link to register, you will need to apply for the 2016 Chicago Southside Mini Maker Faire. You will need your maker ID number to register. Don’t worry, the application is non-binding and you have total control over its content.

What to bring with you:

Your creative muse, a tangible item that illustrates the types of things you enjoy creating, your maker ID#, and an open mind.

Who is this for?

Any maker who wants to infuse collaboration into their exhibit!

Participation Required?

Absolutely not! This workshop is entirely optional, but it will be a fun way to engage with other makers as you plan for your exhibits.

I have more questions! Who can I ask?
You can email us at info, Tweet us @ChiMakerFaire, or Facebook message us at facebook.com/ChiMakerFaire.
