As a friendly reminder, CSSI is an online, four-week introduction to computer science (CS) for rising first year college students with a passion for technology — especially students who identify with groups that have been historically marginalized in the field. CSSI seeks to inspire the tech leaders and innovators of tomorrow and build self confidence, agency, and efficacy. Students will learn computer science fundamentals, participate in workshops to promote self-care, identity, career, and skill development, and build community with peers and industry professionals.

CSSI is July 12-August 5, 2022 from 9am-1pm in your local timezone. To apply and find more information like eligibility requirements, please visit cssi with any questions.

Thanks, The CSSI Team

Hello Chicago Educators,

Horizon Therapeutics is proud to partner with the Chicago Cubs and Science of Sport to host the second annual Chicago Cubs STEAM Fair which is a program designed to inspire and engage the whole family using STEAM and sports! Students entering grades 6-12 will have the opportunity to present their STEAM projects to attendees and judges at Wrigley Field. Attendees will also enjoy interactive exhibits connecting STEAM using baseball examples and cheer the participating students on during the awards ceremony.

STEAM Education Program Description

The Chicago Cubs STEAM Education Program is an educational program that teaches STEM concepts through baseball and softball examples. Students will explore subjects of math, physics, kinesiology, health and more- all while studying real-life Chicago Cubs scenarios, and observing and playing the game.

This program was created by answering the question, "How Can Baseball Help?" and was designed by curriculum developers in collaboration with educators in our region. All lessons meet current Chicago K-12 Learning Standards. The program is suited for grades 6-12, ideally, and can be incorporated into PE, Math, or Science classes. It is adaptable to other grade levels and can be used as an after school or community program.
