Code Nation – PAID Summer Opportunity for Rising 10th-12th Graders

We are thrilled to invite you to apply to participate in this summer’s Bright Project! 6 weeks, 3 organizations, one amazing experience. This program is in collaboration between Code Nation, the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), and the Gray Matter Experience and it is designed to build relevant and real world skills in STEM and entrepreneurship. This opportunity will introduce you to a real industry challenge and teach you the coding and entrepreneurial skills to develop a solution to the challenge!

You do not need to come in with any of the above skills to apply or be considered. We are looking for students with diverse lived experiences, backgrounds, and interests who are excited to learn something new, and use their creativity and innovative spirit to create something meaningful. If this sounds like you, then we invite you to apply for the Bright Project and take the first step towards a bright future.

Program logistics:

The program runs June 26th – August 4th, Monday through Friday (with the exception of July 3rd and 4th)

  • Monday – Friday 9:30am – 12:30 pm

  • 2-3 days will be in person at a location downtown and the rest will be virtual

  • Note: you must be a rising 10th-12th grader to apply

All participants of the Bright Project will receive a financial stipend of at least $300 upon completion of the program. To apply for the Code Nation Bright Project, please complete this application.

Digital Scholars Free 6-Week Summer Program

The Digital Scholars Program is an intensive, 6 week pre-college summer program, which aims to build a deeper and more diverse pool of students pursuing computing and technology-related fields in Illinois. Students can enroll in courses focused on Computer Science, Data Science, Mobile App Development, or Computer & Electrical Engineering, while buildingcollege and career-readiness skills, and increasing their exposure to and connectivity with Chicago’s dynamic tech community. This program is intentional about serving Black, Latinx, women, gender non-conforming, and first-generation students throughout the Chicago area.
To qualify for the Digital Scholars Summer Program students must:

  • be an 11th or 12th grader in Fall 2023, or a recent high school graduate (C’2023)
  • demonstrate an interest in Computer Science or tech-related fields (ie: computer engineering, computer or data science, entrepreneurship, etc.)
  • be able to work both independently and in groups
  • attend a mandatory, virtual program orientation with a parent/caring adult

The 2023 Digital Scholars Program will take place daily and
in-person from 9:00a to 1:00p beginning
Monday, June 26th, 2023 through Friday, August 4th, 2023.

DePaul Summer Programs

This summer, DePaul is running week-long programs for high school students interested in esports, gaming / design / animation, and cybersecurity. These programs are recruiting rising 10th graders and up (gaming / animation), rising 11th graders and up (esports), and rising 12th graders (cyber).

Importantly, there are scholarships available to cover the registration cost. This fact is kind of buried on the pages after the sticker price, so look for it!
